Christophe Clarijs runs an independent graphic design practice based in Antwerp, Belgium. He works closely with cultural institutions, artists, and publishers on visual identities, websites, exhibition signage, books, and other printed matter.
His practice is rooted in a process-driven approach developing cohesive design systems through conceptual, typographic and material choices. With a strong focus on editorial design, typography functions as a narrative device in response to contextual and historical cues.
Each project is approached as a site for long-term engagement, where existing textual materials and image-based motifs are reshaped to resonate within new frameworks. By integrating execution with conceptual nuance, the work aims to sustain a dialogue that is both reflective and forward-looking.
Christophe was a participant at the Jan van Eyck Academie artist-in-residence programme in 2015. He was the in-house graphic designer of M HKA, Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp from 2016 to 2020. Currently, he teaches in the BA Studio Grafisch Ontwerp at Sint Lucas School of Arts Antwerp.
